Mekhela chador or Sador is a traditional dress of Assam, it plays a very crucial role for the women who leave in Assam, mekhela chador is basically worn by Assamese women in any special occasion like marriage parties, a festival like Bihu and some other occasions.
Some people of other states are not aware of mekhela chador or sador as we Assamese don't have complete knowledge about them too, so they have a misconception that mekhela chador or sador is nothing but a saree, even whenever I wear mekhala chador or sador friends of mine who belongs from other states complement me by saying' nice saree dear from where did you brought it' I can grantee that ever girl of Assam has faced this problem once if they live out of state for any purpose and wore mekhela chador in office parties or fresher parties in colleges or any other occasions.
DESCRIPTION OF MEKHELA CHADOR
I describe about mekhela chador in this ways to my friends that this is not saree its called mekhela chador or sador traditional dress of Assam as every state has its own traditional dress like that Assam has mekhela chador, it comes in two pieces one is for upper wear which is called chador and another is from bottom wear is called mekhela and it comes with matching blouse, blouse may be in same colour or contrast depends upon mekhela chador, it is not very heavy instate it is easy to wear and very light to carry.
Mekhela chador or sador is made up with Muga or paat silk which is also known as golden silk, although there are many other options of mekhela chador you can find in the market such as Cotton mekhela chador, Eri silk mekhela chador, Kesa or Raw silk mekhela chador and many other. If you wish you can get mekhela chador in contrast to, you can also buy mekhela and chador separately but the set of mekhela chador is highly required. Mekhela chador has various thread works of beautiful floral in every part of its, the border of mekhela is called 'Paari'.

HOW TO WEAR A MEKHELA CHADOR
The mekhela ( bottom wear ) comes in a form of very wide lungi which is in a cylindrical shape, you also need paticot to stuck mekhala as we do in saree, you have to palate the mekhela from the waist and stuck in the paticot and pin it in the palate if necessary.
Chador( upper wear ) comes in the form of very wide and long dupatta, truck the chador in the paticot leaving triangular shape at the end of the chador in the bottom where you trucked the mekhela then palate it as you do in saree (achal) and pin it up and if you don't want palate it then just pin it up in your blouse according to your wish. click
